GEO: how to get your store recommended by ChatGPT.
GEO, or generative engine optimization, is how you help AI tools like ChatGPT read your store and mention it in their answers. MOVA builds every new site to the usual guidance for Google and AI search. The recommendations themselves are the engines' call, so no one can promise you a spot.

01The definition
What is GEO?
GEO, short for generative engine optimization, is SEO's next step for answer engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews. With SEO, you want to show up in the list of results. With GEO, you want the engine to understand your store well enough to mention it in its answer.
In practice, that means a site an engine can read without running code, structured data that says what a product is, what it costs, and where it ships, and pages that say in plain words who the store is. None of it guarantees a recommendation: the engines decide that.
SEO and GEO: what's the difference?
SEO
Show up in Google's list of results when someone searches.
GEO
Be part of the answer when someone asks an AI tool.
Both need
A fast, clear, well-organized site that's easy to read without running code.
02What's in place
What's already in place for AI tools?
Four things are in place. Each one says where it applies:
1Ready-made pages and llms.txtFor a store moving to us from WordPress, our pipeline builds ready-made pages an AI tool can read without running code, and an llms.txt file that says who you are and what you sell.
2AI crawlers welcomeAt Hasod, the online gift store in Israel where we built MOVA, the robots file welcomes the main AI crawlers (GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, and PerplexityBot) and allows Google-Extended, the setting that lets Google use the site's pages for Gemini.
3Structured data on product pagesAt Hasod, product pages add their price, shipping details, and return policy as structured data once the page loads, which Google Search reads when it renders the page.
4Titles and descriptions for GoogleAt Hasod, the title and description Google shows for each product and category page are written in one place, in the admin.
The recommendations themselves are made by ChatGPT, Google, and the other engines, so no one can promise you a spot, and we won't either. What we can do is build your site so they can read it.

03How it's built
How do you build a site for AI search?
Three questions every engine asks about a site, and how the site answers each one.
IllustrationThe rows on the cards are examples
1.
Can it be read?
For a store moving to us from WordPress, our pipeline builds ready-made pages, so a crawler that doesn't run code still sees the content. And at Hasod, the robots file lets the AI crawlers in.

2.
Can it be understood?
Structured data tells the engine what the product is, what it costs, and what the shipping and return policies are, so it doesn't have to guess. At Hasod, product pages add it once the page loads. Google Search reads it when it renders the page; a crawler that doesn't run code won't see it.

3.
Is it clear who the store is?
The site says in plain words who the store is, what it sells, and where it ships. Hasod also has an llms.txt file, and for a store moving to us from WordPress, our pipeline builds one.

04Check it yourself
What can you check on your site today?
Four checks you can run yourself, with free tools:
Can AI crawlers get in?
Open /robots.txt on your site and look for AI crawlers by name: OAI-SearchBot (ChatGPT search), GPTBot,ClaudeBot, and PerplexityBot. A Disallow: / under one keeps it out of the whole site. Your host may have its own AI crawler setting too.
Does Google see your product data?
Paste a product page's address into Google's Rich Results Test. It lists the structured data it finds, like the price, shipping details, and return policy.
Is the content there without code?
Open a product page's source, not the inspector, and look for its name, price, and description. That's what a crawler that doesn't run code reads.
Does one page say who you are?
One page in plain words, saying who you are, what you sell, and where you ship, gives search engines and AI tools a clear answer about your store.
These show whether an engine can read your store, not whether it will recommend it. On the first call, we go through them with you.
A shopper asks. The engine reads. Then it answers.
Here's the goal in three screens: the question, what the engine reads on your site, and the answer. What's already in place, and how far it goes, is above.

07Who it's for
Who is GEO with MOVA for?
For a store whose customers already ask AI tools what to buy and where, and that wants its site ready for it.
A good fit if:
You sell products people ask about: gifts, home goods, specialty food
You want a site Google and AI tools can both read
Your store runs on WordPress: when you move to us, our pipeline builds ready-made pages and llms.txt from it
Not the right fit if:
You want a guarantee to show up in ChatGPT: no one can promise that
You want a GEO service only, without a new site: MOVA is a site, an admin, and a team
You don't sell online yet: MOVA starts from an existing store

09More solutions
More ways MOVA helps your store.
Each page answers one question store owners ask. Here are the others:
That's the goal. Every site is built to the usual guidance for Google and AI search, and for a store moving from WordPress, our pipeline already builds ready-made pages AI tools can read without running code. The recommendations themselves are made by the engines, so no one can promise you a spot, and we won't either.
What is llms.txt?
A text file at the root of a site that tells AI tools, in plain words, who the store is, what it sells, and where it ships. It's a proposed convention: as of Oct 2026, no major AI engine has said it uses llms.txt to choose what to recommend, so we treat it as a small extra next to structured data and readable pages. Hasod has one, and for a store moving to us from WordPress, our pipeline builds it.
What's the difference between SEO and GEO?
With SEO, you want to appear in Google's list of results. With GEO, you want to be part of an AI tool's answer. The basics are shared: a fast, clear, well-organized site that's easy to read without running code.
Can AI crawlers read my site today?
That's set mainly by your site's robots.txt file, and sometimes by your host's own settings. At Hasod, the robots file welcomes GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, and PerplexityBot, and allows Google-Extended, the setting that lets Google use the site's pages for Gemini. We look at yours together on the first call, or you can start with the free store audit.
Who can see my store's data?
We use your data only to run the service and never share it, except with the infrastructure, AI, and messaging providers that run it. Your store's data lives in its own database. It belongs to you.
What if it's not a fit?
No long-term contract. Cancel any month. The setup fee covers work already done, so it isn't refunded. If you leave, you get a full export of your store's data within 14 days. Live in 7 days from access to your current site, or your first month is free. The 7 days start when we have access to your current site and all your materials. Time spent waiting for your approvals or materials doesn't count.
